Description

Delicious shrimp filled bread bites that are crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside.


Ingredients

  • 6 slices Thick White Bread (Cut into 2-inch squares and remove crusts)
  • 300 grams Shrimp (Fresh or thawed frozen shrimp)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (Minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger (Grated or minced)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce (Substitute with tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil (Can substitute with olive oil)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt/WP (White Pepper) (Adjust to taste)
  • 1 large Egg (Or use a flax egg for vegan option)
  • 2 tablespoons Chives/Green Onions (Optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cut the thick white bread into 2-inch squares, then carefully remove the crusts.
  2. Chop half of the shrimp into a paste and combine it with minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, white pepper, and egg.
  3. Take each bread square and generously fill it with the shrimp mixture, topping with a whole or halved shrimp.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to 170°C (340°F), fry the bites shrimp-side up for 1-2 minutes, flip, and fry for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve immediately while still warm.

Notes

  • These bites are best served fresh and hot.
  • For a vegan option, ensure to use a flax egg instead of a chicken egg.
