- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup chopped dried or fresh cherries
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture and beat until fully combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a thick dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped cherries evenly.
- Scoop dough balls onto the baking sheet, leaving 2 inches between each.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.
- These cookies can also be served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
