Description

A delicious and hearty cheesy beef casserole that combines savory ground beef, tender rice, and melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are golden brown and soft, about 10 minutes.
  3. Push the onions to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking apart the meat as it cooks.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, sautéed onions, ground beef, garlic powder, and half of the beef broth. Mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch casserole dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Pour the remaining beef broth over the casserole mixture. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. This dish goes perfectly with a simple side salad or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • Choose halal options for beef.
  • White rice adds a classic touch, while brown rice gives a wholesome bite.
  • Sweet or yellow onions work best for a rich flavor.
  • Ensure beef broth is halal-certified for the key flavor component.
  • Try mozzarella or cheddar for enhanced creaminess.
